Welcome to the practice of Dr Nic Goncalves, a specialist Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgeon based in Cape Town, South Africa. Dr Goncalves manages and treats a full spectrum of ENT conditions in both adults and children, with particular clinical interests in rhinology, endoscopic sinus and skull base surgery. He has completed further sub-specialised fellowship training in Rhinology, Endoscopic Sinus and Skull Base Surgery at the University of Cape Town under the directorship of Professor Darlene Lubbe, and maintains strong academic and clinical links to the University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital.

About Dr Nicholas Goncalves
Dr Nicholas Goncalves graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand Medical School in 2010, receiving the Dean’s Merit Award for academic excellence. He completed his postgraduate ENT specialist training at the University of Cape Town, where he obtained the Fellowship of Otorhinolaryngology (South Africa), and graduated with a Master of Medicine (MMed) in Otorhinolaryngology (with Distinction) in 2019. He subsequently completed further subspecialised postgraduate training in Rhinology, Skull Base and Airway Surgery, including a Rhinology, Endoscopic Sinus and Skull Base Fellowship at the University of Cape Town under the directorship of Professor Darlene Lubbe.
He holds a sessional ENT consultant post at the University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital, where he provides clinical and surgical care and assists in the training of ENT registrars. Dr Goncalves manages and treats all ear, nose and throat conditions in both adults and children. His special interests include sinus conditions, nasal obstruction, snoring and breathing problems, pituitary surgery, cystic fibrosis, hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia (HHT), transorbital surgery and paediatric nasal conditions. He also has a keen interest in clinical research, has authored and co-authored peer-reviewed publications in rhinology and transorbital surgery, and was awarded the International Mrs Harbans Kaur Tatla Fellowship (BACO ENT UK) in 2021.
